Disney Magic - Halloween on the High Seas 5-night cruise - Day 5 - Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay

Ah bittersweet day. Our last day of the cruise, but also a great day at Castaway Cay, Disney’s beautiful private island. I woke up first and headed out to the veranda as we were making our approach. Like most mornings, I headed up to Cabanas to grab some food to bring back to the room. After I returned, Roger was ready to depart for the Castaway Cay 5k. In the meantime, I sat on the veranda and enjoyed the view, reading my book while I let Emmaline sleep in.

After awhile, I woke her up and got her dressed and sunscreened and ready to go to the island. Roger called and said he was done so we waited for him to come back from the island. While we waited, they began a crew member drill with a life boat and a dummy that they threw into the water to “rescue.”

Roger came back to the room and Emmaline and I headed out to the island to our meeting spot while Roger went to Cabanas to eat. Later we met up on the island at our designated meeting spot. And there we spent a lovely day at Castaway Cay splashing and playing in the sand. At one point Emmaline hung out with the family we had become friends with that we shared a table with at dinner and Roger and I made a quick trek to check out the adult beach. We didn’t stay long. The water was shallow and not very swim-able.

We stayed fairly late in the day (later than we had last year) and we were heading back to the ship as they had begun to clean up the island. When we got back to our room, we ordered room service of cheese and crackers (they call it “All Hands On Deck”), fruit, and hot chocolate chip cookies. While we took turns getting cleaned up, we watched a movie on the stateroom tv and ate our snacks.

Then it was time for the last show of the cruise: “Disney Dreams” which was definitely the best show of the trip. After that, Emmaline went to the kid’s club while Roger and I returned to the room and packed until it was time for dinner. We went to dinner for our last meal with one more back left to pack. After dinner, we went back to the room with about 10 minutes left before we had to have our baggage in the hallway for pickup. We frantically packed while keeping an eye in the hallway for baggage pickup. We just made it. Then we fell into bed and went to sleep since we had to wake up early to disembark in Miami to fly home the next day.
