Summer 2026 Graduation Celebration: Edinburgh, London, Disneyland Paris, Paris - Day 8 Travel Day: London to Disneyland Paris

Another tube strike day so we took an Uber to the train station and I gave us a lot of extra time, which is good because we arrived pretty much at the time we were instructed to be at St. Pancras to catch the Eurostar (7:45 AM for a 9:00 AM departure). 

We boarded the train and it was a pretty quick trip to Lille. I actually thought it was longer but I forgot about the time change to an hour later. We arrived in Lille at 11:24 and we had found some lunch options in town, but ultimately just decided to have some lunch in the station when the weather was looking rainy outside, plus the fact that the restaurants didn’t open until noon. Oops. We ended up having to deal with the rain anyway to get from the Lille Europe station to the other Lille station that handled more of the local trains. We made our way through a total downpour and got our train to Paris Marne-La-Vallée - Chessy - Disneyland which left Lille at 12:56 and got into Disneyland Paris at 2:10 PM. 

We were meeting up with my friend Dru who you may recall from previous European adventures. She had actually arrived at Disneyland Paris around noon and had gotten us all checked in and scoped things out so it was pretty easy when we got there. We met up for snacks and coffees at the Starbucks at Disney Village (similar to Disney Springs/Downtown Disney). 

From there we went to check in at our hotel, Sequoia Lodge, and organized our things. We had two connecting rooms: Emmaline and Dru in one and Roger and I in the other. After we organized our things we headed out to the parks, starting in Disneyland (and Phantom Manor, of course). We returned to our hotel for dinner and reset before going out again to catch a couple more rides and the nighttime spectacular at Disney Adventure World (formerly Disney Studios). The night show was at 10:40 because it gets dark pretty late there and so we didn’t end up getting back to our place and back to bed until very late. Though I will say it was worth it. It was a fantastic show.

9-night DCL Mediterranean with Greek Isles cruise - Day 11: Santorini

Santorini At the beginning of our trip I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and saw that a longtime friend of ours who lives in Chicago and we hadn’t seen in person in a long time had posted a picture from the Acropolis in Athens. So we sent him a message and asked if he was in Greece. He was! Their family was taking a DIY Greek island hopping vacation (mostly using ferries). We compared itineraries and realized we were going to be in Santorini on the same day so we arranged to meet up. We got up around 7:30, got ourselves ready, ate breakfast, and made our way to the Walt Disney Theatre a little after 9 AM to get set for the process to go ashore, which is a little complicated in Santorini. 9-night DCL Mediterranean with Greek Isles cruise - Day 7: Chania, Crete

Chania, Crete Our first official stop of the cruise was Chania on the island of Crete. The “c” is silent, so it’s han-ee-uh, with the han part pronounced like Han Solo so it sounds more like the word “on” (unless it’s being said by Lando in which case he says Han like “hand.” I digress.) We had a late arrival into this port but nevertheless we set the alarm for 8 AM because we needed to make it to the special Gold/Platinum/Pearl level celebration in the Walt Disney Theatre at 9:15 AM. This special presentation is only on cruises longer than 7 nights. This was the third time we’ve attended this behind the scenes look a show in the Walt Disney Theatre. This one was a scene we hadn’t seen before so it was cool to see something slightly different.
