Summer 2026 Graduation Celebration: Edinburgh, London, Disneyland Paris, Paris - Day 11 Versailles
It was another slightly early morning, unfortunately, as all reluctantly got up and headed out to the train to Versailles. Roger had already been to the palace previously and was still exhausted so he opted to stay behind and catch up to us in the gardens after we toured the palace.
We had the first entry time (9 AM) into the palace and rolled up pretty much right on time, which meant that the line was already insane. It took us about 20 minutes to get through the line for security and tickets. At around 11 AM we stumbled across a cafe and all three of us were like “YES PLEASE!” We sat down and rested our feet and had some coffees and snacks before venturing into the gardens.
We got a map and tried to orient ourselves which took us a bit. We thought we were on one section of the map, but then we came to the realization that the gardens were so much more massive than we realized and what we thought was about a quarter of the grounds we were looking at where only a teeeeeeny tiny little subsection. The scale was just insane.
We found one of the fountains that puts on a little show which wasn’t really that impressive after watching the water shows that Disney puts on. Roger found us and we all explored the gardens together before grabbing lunch at the far end of the gardens at a little cafe there which was really quite good.
We left there and went to explore Marie Antoinette’s hamlet, which is a little village area she liked to stay in to live a more “simple” and “pastoral” life. She got to cosplay as a pleb without any of that annoying poverty that goes with it. How nice for her. We then paid 5 Euros each to take a little tram ride back up to the palace and it was worth the money to save our poor tired feet. We had some really overpriced coffees in the town of Versailles before hopping a train back to our AirBnB.
We relaxed and regrouped and then went out to a burger restaurant near the Eiffel Tower for dinner. The burgers and fries were really good and cheap also. We then walked over to the Eiffel Tower and got a good view of it from below before walking over to the other side to grab a seat so we could see it sparkle. After the sparkle we tried to find some dessert, but didn’t really find anything we liked so we took the metro back to our AirBnB and instead had some cookies that I had gotten from the store the day before.
